Square # 80 - from my "boys"!

Have you ever cried over mail? I have, and it wasn't over my latest Visa bill. Stephan (dh) and Francis (ds) sent me some squares for Naomi's quilt. I was opening my mail on Friday after work and it took me a few minutes to get that it was from them. Francis chose a sports themed fabric and Stephan chose a train fabric. It touched me because my husband opened up about his feelings towars his daughter-to-be, not something he does on a regular basis. What a great reminder that I really did marry my best friend.

Square 79 - from my friend Chantal!

My friend Chantal gave me these 2 adorable ladybug fabrics. She and her hubby are expecting a baby boy in December which will hopefully be good timing to spend some of our maternity time together! Looking forward to next year together with our kids!

These squares were sent to me by a friend of my mother's who has 2 Chinese daughters of her own. She heard about our journey to adopt Naomi and wanted to send us these great fabric squares to add to our quilt (I esp. love the fortune cookie fabric!). She also sent a pair of sprots-themed socks for Francis (not pictured). She also wrote that she has something to give us on Naomi's arrival! Now how kind, generous and thoughtful this that?! Thanks Stephani - I am late posting this but you really made my day! :o)

Square # 73 - from Claire!

This is such a sweet square. My friend Chantal was talking about us at work one day and about how we are making this quilt. Well, her co-worker presented her with this square to give to us! She doesn't even know us - so how thoughtful is that? Some people just go out of their way to be kind- thank you Claire, your generosity is appreciated.

This cheerful fabric was sent to me by Robin, a friend of my aunt Josee. Tres cool! Kinda like I spy fabric. Thanks Robin!

100 Good wishes Quilt - Bai Jia Bei

To welcome and celebrate a new life, a tradition exists in the northern part of China, to make a Bai Jia Bei (100 Good Wishes Quilt). Friends and family contribute squares of cloth along with their wish for the baby. The quilt is said to contain the luck and energy from everyone who contributed a piece of fabric.

How to contribute:
Choose a machine washable, 100% cotton fabric. It can be new or used/meaningful. Cut a 7"x7" square (rotary cut) or 8 x 8 square (hand cut). Add a note (sized 5 X 7 or smaller) with your good wish for Naomi, with a small piece of the fabric attached. It can be simple or elaborate, your own words or a favorite poem, quote, recipe or whatever you want to share.

All the notes will be put into an album or scrapbook and when we look through it we will be able to match up the wish and the fabric in the quilt!
Here are some examples of finished quilts: Www.Originalquilts.Com

I am also willing to swap squares for those of you making your own Bai Jia Bei!
I am including a photo of the note I made for a friend – for the moment I am sending out bright green ladybug fabric!

Each square I recieve will be added here!
