Square # 80 - from my "boys"!
Have you ever cried over mail? I have, and it wasn't over my latest Visa bill. Stephan (dh) and Francis (ds) sent me some squares for Naomi's quilt. I was opening my mail on Friday after work and it took me a few minutes to get that it was from them. Francis chose a sports themed fabric and Stephan chose a train fabric. It touched me because my husband opened up about his feelings towars his daughter-to-be, not something he does on a regular basis. What a great reminder that I really did marry my best friend.
Square # 74 - from Stephani and family!
These squares were sent to me by a friend of my mother's who has 2 Chinese daughters of her own. She heard about our journey to adopt Naomi and wanted to send us these great fabric squares to add to our quilt (I esp. love the fortune cookie fabric!). She also sent a pair of sprots-themed socks for Francis (not pictured). She also wrote that she has something to give us on Naomi's arrival! Now how kind, generous and thoughtful this that?! Thanks Stephani - I am late posting this but you really made my day! :o)
Square # 73 - from Claire!
This is such a sweet square. My friend Chantal was talking about us at work one day and about how we are making this quilt. Well, her co-worker presented her with this square to give to us! She doesn't even know us - so how thoughtful is that? Some people just go out of their way to be kind- thank you Claire, your generosity is appreciated.

Square # 38 - from Burlington, Ontario!
This cheerful fabric was sent to me by Robin, a friend of my aunt Josee. I'm not sure if you can see it in the photo but at first it looks like you are just looking at a pretty floral, but in truth there are cats, butterflies, birdhouses, bunnies, birds, sheep, a peacock, ducks, hearts, flowers and strawberries. Tres cool! Kinda like I spy fabric. Thanks Robin!
Square # 35 - from Mildred in Ontario!

Wow! Another friend of my aunt Josee send wishes! This teddy bear fabric reminds me of the song "the teddy bear’s picnic" that my mother used to sing me when I was little. I love the bright colors in the "transportation" fabric - cute! She wrote that her granddaughter also has a quilt made from this teddy bear angel fabric. Thanks Mildred!
Square # 31 - from BC!

This adorble fabric is so "girly" I just love it! It's more pink than purple so the picture doesn't do it justice. The wish is very creative and inspiring. If you'd like to follow this family on their journey to Annaliese, visit: http://www.4boys2love.blogspot.com/. Thanks Dawn!
Square # 28 - from Lorraine in Saskatoon!

Square #6 - from my friend Amy!

This square is from my friend Amy. Amy and I met in the interior design program at Dawson about 15 years ago – OMG has it been that long already???? We lost touch for a while and then we ended up working at the same company for a bit. We got married a month apart and we both have little boys. She also used to work for the same company as Stephan – actually SHE was the one who told him about the job! Again, I didn’t tell Amy about this project – she must read my blog too. Thanks Amy!!

Square # 3 - From my friend Doris!

This square is from my friend Doris. Doris and I met not too long ago at one of the Mom’s night out (MNO) dinners that our group from the agency organizes. Within our agency, there are several groups formed – mostly by geography and language. Each group is given a coach, ours is Karen, she has adopted 5 children from China!. Anyways, this is how Doris and I met and soon we found out that we only worked a block away from each other so we have been meeting for lunch every week or so. Click here to visit Doris’ site. Thanks Doris!

Square #1 - From Gen in Marysville, WA!
This is my first square and it's from Genevieve Stasiak. I love reading her blog: Going to China...Bringing back more than a t-shirt. This fabric is so cute and colorful. The message she wrote for Naomi was to be thoughtful and to be aware of other people. Merci Gen!

100 Good wishes Quilt - Bai Jia Bei
To welcome and celebrate a new life, a tradition exists in the northern part of China, to make a Bai Jia Bei (100 Good Wishes Quilt). Friends and family contribute squares of cloth along with their wish for the baby. The quilt is said to contain the luck and energy from everyone who contributed a piece of fabric.
How to contribute:
Choose a machine washable, 100% cotton fabric. It can be new or used/meaningful. Cut a 7"x7" square (rotary cut) or 8 x 8 square (hand cut). Add a note (sized 5 X 7 or smaller) with your good wish for Naomi, with a small piece of the fabric attached. It can be simple or elaborate, your own words or a favorite poem, quote, recipe or whatever you want to share.
All the notes will be put into an album or scrapbook and when we look through it we will be able to match up the wish and the fabric in the quilt!
Here are some examples of finished quilts: Www.Originalquilts.Com
I am also willing to swap squares for those of you making your own Bai Jia Bei!
I am including a photo of the note I made for a friend – for the moment I am sending out bright green ladybug fabric!
Each square I recieve will be added here!
